Trade Leader

Reports to: Head of Sales & Marketing
Location: Edison, NJ
Department: Sales & Marketing

About Swiss Madison

Swiss Madison is a design-driven manufacturer of luxury bathroom fixtures, dedicated to Elevating the Standard of Home Living. We are at a pivotal stage of growth, expanding our trade business from its early foundation into a scalable, strategic revenue engine that serves developers, builders, showrooms, and national reseller partners such as Ferguson, Home Depot Pro Desk, and Lowe’s Pro Desk.

Role Overview

The Trade Leader will build and lead Swiss Madison’s Trade Program from the ground up—serving as both strategic architect and hands-on operator (“player-coach”). This person will design the go-to-market strategy for trade sales, establish relationships with key accounts, define the trade customer journey, and lead the infrastructure development for rapid growth.

This role requires someone who has previously built trade programs or B2B reseller channels from inception, understands both direct-to-builder and traditional reseller models, and can bring clarity to strategic decisions such as whether to bypass resellers or prioritize partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and own Swiss Madison’s trade channel strategy — including positioning, pricing, account structure, and partnership approach (reseller vs. direct).
Develop a scalable growth plan to significantly expand trade revenue in three years.

  • Build clarity around the key trade routes:

    • Direct to developers, real estate owners, and contractors

    • Through showrooms and distributors

    • Via Pro Desk programs (Ferguson, Home Depot, Lowe’s)

  • Establish KPIs, forecast models, and margin analysis to evaluate channel performance.

  • Collaborate with the CFO and COO to determine investment priorities and ROI thresholds for trade expansion.

Operational Buildout

  • Design and implement the infrastructure for the Trade Program, including:

    • Trade Concierge (customer service)

    • Sales roles and rep agency partnerships

    • CRM and lead tracking systems (potential integration with platforms like ConstructConnect, BuildingConnected, or DataBid).

  • Develop playbooks for onboarding trade customers, managing bids, and supporting large project orders.

  • Partner with Marketing to build trade program branding, assets, and digital presence (portal, collateral, pricing sheets).

Business Development

  • Establish relationships with key national accounts and regional trade partners.

  • Lead negotiations and onboarding with resellers such as Ferguson, Hijoca, Home Depot Pro Desk, and Lowe’s Pro Desk.

  • Identify and pursue project-based sales opportunities (commercial, multifamily, hospitality) through construction-lead platforms and rep agencies.

  • Drive specification efforts to ensure Swiss Madison products are included early in project bids.

Team Leadership

  • Act as a player-coach — directly managing key accounts while building and mentoring a small team.

  • Recruit and lead internal and external sales support (rep agencies, trade concierge, etc.).

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with operations, marketing, and finance to support smooth order execution and fulfillment.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in trade, B2B sales, or channel development—ideally in the building materials, plumbing fixtures, or construction products sector.

  • Proven experience building or scaling a trade or reseller program from scratch.

  • Deep understanding of trade customer ecosystems (developers, GCs, showrooms, designers, resellers).

  • Strong financial and operational acumen; comfortable working with revenue models and contribution margin analysis.

  • Experience working with or selling through Pro Desk or distributor networks.

  • Strong CRM and sales pipeline management skills (HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.).

  • Entrepreneurial and strategic mindset—able to operate independently and structure ambiguity into a repeatable process.

Key Traits

  • Strategic Operator: Balances vision and execution—can both craft and implement strategy.

  • Builder Mentality: Comfortable creating infrastructure, systems, and teams from scratch.

  • Analytical Clarity: Able to evaluate channel economics and prioritize high-ROI initiatives.

  • Relationship-Oriented: Builds trust with internal teams, partners, and customers.

  • Resilient & Hands-On: Thrives in fast-moving, growth-stage environments.

Success in This Role

  • Clear trade channel strategy with measurable KPIs.

  • Trade infrastructure (team, systems, CRM, collateral) built within first 6–9 months.

  • Significant revenue growth within three years through optimized channel mix.

  • Strong partnerships with key trade accounts (Ferguson, Hijoca, Home Depot Pro, Lowe’s Pro).

  • Recognition of Swiss Madison as a preferred trade brand for bathroom fixtures in the U.S.

Why Swiss Madison?

  • We are redefining what it means to build a home brand—from our design philosophy to how we operate globally.
  • You’ll work with driven executives who embody ownership, clarity, and impact.
  • You’ll shape not just our product line, but the way our entire brand is experienced across North America and beyond.
  • You'll build and lead a lean, effective, and distributed team.
