Types of Bidets and How to Choose One
Many people use a bidet as it is hygienic, can limit germ spread, and can be helpful for homes with septic tanks. A bidet is also better for the environment and offers cost-savings as it reduces the amount of toilet paper used. When purchasing a bidet, the most important thing to consider is the installation type. Bidets come in a variety of different options and are a perfect accessory to add to your bathroom.
What is a Bidet?
A bidet is an item that uses a stream of water to clean the user after he/she passes a bowel movement instead of or in addition to toilet paper. This personal hygiene method is slowly gaining popularity in American bathrooms but is more commonly found in Asia and some European and South American countries. There are multiple types of bidets available on the market, and Swiss Madison offers a variety of bidets so that you can select which one best fits your needs.
Types of Bidets:
-
Classic Bidet
A classic style bidet, also known as a standalone bidet, is a singular unit that is installed independent of a toilet. Classic bidets are used after the toilet. Swiss Madison offers classic style bidets for freestanding and wall-hung installations. A bidet faucet and bidet drain are required for proper installation. Swiss Madison offers a variety of bidet faucets that are compatible with our classic bidets.
-
Smart Seat Bidet
A smart seat bidet, also known simply as a bidet toilet seat, is designed to replace your existing toilet seat. These seats attach to your toilet and give it the ability to act as a bidet by hooking up directly to your water connection. Some features available in smart seat bidets include the ability to control water temperature, night lights, and the use of a remote control.
-
Bidet Attachment
A bidet attachment is simply a bidet feature that can be installed underneath your toilet seat for easy use. The attachment features adjustable water pressure and two nozzles to help customize your bidet spray and does not require any heavy-duty plumbing to install. This attachment is non-electric and is compatible with most toilet models. (Click here for Swiss Madison’s bidet compatibility chart)
